scottsdale golf resort with Segway golfOffering the latest in golf technology, The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa was the first golf resort in the country to offer the option of using Segways to maneuver around the course. The Segway’s gyroscopes, tilt sensors, high-speed microprocessors and powerful electric motors keep it balanced using technology called dynamic stabilization. With their low impact on fairways and greens, Segways help keep the course pristine and beautiful. Play delays on full tee-sheet days are also minimized. Plus, Segways are much quieter than traditional golf carts and run on emission-free battery power.

The Westin Kierland Golf Club custom designed the Segway GT to hold scorecards, tees, golf balls and drinks, and the two-wheeled devices are offered to guests as an upgrade to Golf Club’s air-conditioned golf cart. Segway can be reserved for use when booking tee times.

Fitness, fun and speed of play are top of mind with this fun mode of transportation. Golfers can now “surf” the earth on the GolfBoard. These easy-to-ride, electric boards that allow players to surf the golf course in a manner similar to water surfing, snowboarding or skateboarding.

Named “Best New Product” at the 2014 PGA Merchandise Show, GolfBoards feature four-wheel-drive, posi-traction mobility that provides traction on even steep hills and allows golfers to traverse the course more quickly and easily, reducing the time it takes to get from one shot to the next.
The GolfBoard’s stability handle provides storage space for clubs as well as controls for speed, but as with snowboarding or surfing, the rider uses body motion to guide the GolfBoard’s steering.

Golf Bikes allow golfers to enjoy the game while also getting a workout. Designed to create minimal impact on the course and maximum fun and fitness for the golfer, the bicycles feature small-diameter wheels and wide rubber tires and have two custom-designed golf bags mounted to the rear of the bike to carry a full set of clubs.

The Golf Club newly welcomes Kierland TurfRiders to its fleet of transports. The two-wheeled scooter is made for cruising the course both on and off cart paths thanks to light weight and large, turf-friendly tires. With a space for golf bags securely situated at the rear and an 18 mph setting, the Kierland TurfRider signals a new era in the way courses are navigated.
FORE-MAX Training System, which provides a comprehensive approach to improving driving distance and overall fitness, brings together traditional instruction, on-course play, fitness, training and nutrition.

Award-winning golf instructor Mike LaBauve worked with the Resort Fitness Director Steve Heller to create a program that blends the best of exercise physiology with top golf instruction. The result is a personalized workout program that is virtually guaranteed to increase driving distance and stamina on the course.

  • How it works – for the golfer: After identifying a golfer’s strengths and weaknesses in swing, short game, driving and general fitness, the trainers develop a well-rounded regimen which combines cardio, flexibility, strength and nutrition. Trainers then monitor progress and adjusting the program as necessary.
  • How it works – for the non-golfer: Fitness Director Steve Heller creates a personalized workout regimen and guides guests through a custom workout to fit the guest’s overall fitness needs and goals.
