FUN

The island-themed activities continue with the Resort’s award-winning family FUN Program. In addition to its year-round activities including Kids in the Kitchen, Digital Kids’ Club, and s’mores roasting at the Kierland Kampfires, your whole family will enjoy daily poolside activities such as Pass the Coconut (the Hawaiian version of Hot Potato), Island Limbo, Hula Skirt Relay Racing and Grass Skirt Hula Hoops. Adults can get into the games, too with the Mai Tai Putting Challenge in which they putt a clementine orange and those who make a hole-in-one win a Mai Tai. Shaded from the Arizona sun, the FUN Team’s “OK Corral” is adjacent to the Resort’s Adventure Water Park and offers hours of fun with lawn chess, basketball, and outdoor game tables.

Dining

On Friday evenings, guests can enjoy live musical entertainment and the return of the Resort’s popular Food Truck Fridays. On Saturday evenings, the Resort will feature entertainment provided by the Resort’s own summer DJ and the Aloha Summer Barbecue served poolside featuring Pulled Luau Pork sandwiches with Grilled Pineapple and Mango Salsa and Sweet Chili Garlic Sauce on a Hawaiian Bun and served with Hawaiian Potato Chips.

Food Truck Fridays Live Entertainment

While you delight in scrumptious offerings from the Food Trucks and indulge in some of our new summer cocktails, enjoy live music from the Chris Putrino Duo. Chris Putrino has become a well-known entertainer in the Phoenix-Scottsdale metropolitan area’s music scene. Audiences are attracted to night clubs to listen to his intuitive song writing and performance style, which is a blending of the spirited essence of Santana and moody blues, flavored with smooth country, wistful love ballads and Latin jazz. It all comes together as a remarkable mixture of sounds.

On piano/keyboard, Tony Putrino presents an eclectic mix of musical styles and idioms ranging from high-energy rhythms to soulful, passionate melodies to peaceful, meditative, healing soundscapes. He has been in the Phoenix area since 1987 and has performed at every major resort, on concert stages and in restaurants, nightclubs and private homes throughout the valley.

Kierland Golf Club Puts New Spin On Game

Long known for its popular Segway golf, the innovative Kierland Golf Club at The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa has introduced yet another new way for golfers to enjoy the course – by bicycle.

Golf-Bike-webNew golf bikes allow golfers to enjoy the game while getting a workout. Designed to create minimal impact on the course and maximum fun and fitness for the golfer, the bicycles feature small-diameter wheels and wide rubber tires and have two custom-designed golf bags mounted to the rear of the bike to carry a full set of clubs.
Nancy Dickens, director of golf at The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa, believes that many golfers are looking for fun, new ways to enjoy the game through innovative programs and products. She estimates that it takes an average of one hour to play nine holes when playing on bikes.

Kierland FlowRider Surf Camp

The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa  will host an exclusive five-day Surf Camp to teach kids ages 8-12 (at least 52″ tall) to bodyboard, flowboard and even provide tips for all the latest tricks. The junior surfers will also enjoy daily surf-related activities, games, crafts and flowga (flowboard yoga). The week will conclude with a special Surf Show for parents to watch the junior surfers perform their new FlowRider skills and tricks.

The week-long camps, priced at $450 per child, run consecutively starting June 2 through July 28. Camp hours are 8:30 am – 3:00 pm Monday through Friday.

Digital Kids Camp

This summer, The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa’s Digital Kids Club program will offer unique five-day camps designed to help budding movie directors capture footage and experiment with special effects, inspired news anchors experience the world of reporting and help young artists hone animation and comic book design skills. The camp programs are: Stop Motion Animation, Movie Making, Produce Your Own Morning Show and Media Madness. Throughout the week, kids will make their own creation with video and digital photographs as well as experiment with special effects and music to create their very own video on a DVD to take home as a souvenir and memory of their FUN-filled week.

Coco-Luscious Body Wrap

This skin-rejuvenating wrap starts with an exfoliating body treatment of raw sugar cane granules and rich virgin coconut oils followed by an anti-aging mango enzyme, rich in anti-oxidants and Vitamin A helping to eliminate dead skin and sun damage. While wrapped in a warm cocoon, guests will receive a mini-facial which includes a nourishing coconut cream masque to help firm and hydrate the skin.
